Efficient sheetpile wall renovation in Woerden (the Netherlands)
Efficient sheetpile wall renovation in Woerden (the Netherlands)
More and more municipalities and other customers are consciously choosing Prolock bank protection and sheetpile walls for renovation projects for water retaining structures. The municipality of Woerden, for example, has made Prolock a requirement for all specifications that are related to revetment and sheetpile wall renovations. As a result, a lot of Prolock has been processed in the municipality during the past eight years; At the time of writing approximately 15 kilometres of banks has been updated.
Professional processing
The processing of all these Prolock profiles is in the professional hands of contractor Van Leeuwen GWW from Harmelen. This party has a long-term maintenance contract with the municipality of Woerden in which, for example, the maintenance of the revetments and sheetpile walls is included.
Now: Boerendijk project
The youngest project in relation to this concerns the sheetpile walls on the Boerendijk in Woerden. A Van Leeuwen GWW team is currently very busy with installing maintenance-free Prolock Omega profiles. Once the old wooden bank protection has been removed, the new Prolock Omega screen will be installed using a custom-made piling frame that is supplied by Prolock itself.
Sustainable and effective
With Prolock, the municipality of Woerden has chosen a sustainable and circular solution that will not require maintenance during the coming 60 years. ‘In-house contractor’ Van Leeuwen GWW has, within this context, so much experience with installing Prolock that every sheetpile wall renovation project runs smoothly and successfully.
